Buyers Guide Bamboo

Beautiful, Breathable, Organic Bamboo - What Is It?

Bamboo is a member of the grass family of plants - though it can grow to the size of a gigantic tree! As a grass, it grows extremely quickly compared to, for example, a Cotton Plant. In fact - it’s one of the fastest growing grasses on the planet. One Bamboo pole can grow on average 60cm in just one day.

What Do Bamboo Sheets And Bamboo Bath Towels Feel Like?

If we compare natural Bamboo Plant Fibres to Cotton Plant Fibres, Bamboo is much longer and more durable than Cotton. This means that you can weave less individual Bamboo Fibres together to create one single strong thread. Because Natural Cotton Fibres are short, it takes many more fibres to create a long single thread of Cotton.

Bamboo Plant Fibres are also naturally more silky and soft in hand-feel compared to Cotton. So the result once Bamboo Threads have been woven into a Bed Sheet is a supremely soft sheet.

Does Thread Count Matter When Choosing Bamboo Bedlinen?

When shopping for Cotton Bed Sheets, the higher the Thread Count, the softer and more luxurious the sheet will feel. However, when shopping for natural Bamboo Bed Sheets, you can’t apply the same rule.

Raw Bamboo Plant Fibres are naturally much softer than Cotton. So even if you opt for a lower Thread Count Sheet in Bamboo, it will always be softer than its Cotton counterpart with the same Thread Count. And if you want to treat yourself to the absolute best of the best, try our super premium and luxuriously soft 750 Thread Count Organic Bamboo Sheet Sets. As affordable as they are luxurious.

You can read all about Thread Count and Bamboo in our blog post "Thread Count & Bamboo Sheets. Does it still make a difference?".

Bamboo Quilts & Pillows

It’s not all about what’s on the outside – what’s underneath your bedlinen matters too. It is important to also consider the Quilt you use and your Pillow. Pure Zone’s 100% Bamboo Quilts come in both 300 and 500 GSM options, filled with the highest quality, cool, soft Bamboo fibres to see you through every season. We also offer a 100% Bamboo Pillow for maximum Bamboo benefits, and a Medium Loft Bamboo Cover Pillow with memory foam filling and Bamboo Jersey casing.

Use Bamboo Protection

All mattresses and pillows benefit from being protected, not just from spillages and stains but dust mites and allergens too. Bamboo is one of the most efficient fabrics to take on this job with it’s natural antimicrobial, antibacterial and hypoallergenic properties. Our Bamboo Waterproof Mattress Protectors and Bamboo Waterproof Pillow Protectors are super soft, breathable barriers designed for a comfortable night sleep and ultimate protection.

A Superhero Eco-Friendly Fabric

Bamboo is 100% biodegradable

If you’re doing your best to live a Zero Waste lifestyle, choose Bedlinen and Bath Towels made from 100% Natural Bamboo Fibres. They are 100% biodegradable and will, one day, return to the Earth.

Bamboo grows without any pesticides

We LOVE Organic Bamboo Fibres. They are silky soft on the skin, and naturally breathable so it feels great to wrap up in them. Whether it’s a big absorbent Bamboo Towel, or a cosy Bamboo Quilt Cover - we can’t get enough. But in its natural habitat, the jungle insects and pests do not share our love for Bamboo - they prefer to eat other trees and plants. This means that Bamboo Farmers of the world don’t need to use any harmful pesticides to grow their Bamboo, for a truly Organic Product.

Bamboo grows with a minimal amount of water

The world is in a water crisis, and we need to look to water-efficient farming and natural materials to ensure the future health of the planet. When it comes to choosing an eco-friendly fabric for your next set of Bedlinen or Bath Towels, a natural Organic Bamboo Fibre is your best choice. In fact, Bamboo uses only 90 litres of water to produce 1KG of fabric, while Cotton requires over 200 times more water to produce the same amount.

Bamboo is self-regenerating

Bamboo almost never needs to be planted, it will keep sprouting new Bamboo once it has been cropped. It is so resilient, that after natural disasters, Bamboo is always the first crop to sprout and grow again. This means that producers of Bamboo never need to use chemical agents to boost or increase growth.

Bamboo is safe

The 100% Bamboo fabrics and materials used in our Bamboo Collection has the OEKO-Tex Standard 100 certification, meaning it has been tested by OEKO-TEX for harmful substances and declared safe for human use.
